Due to the unique way the Dragon Fangs are attached to the Altron, their destruction would not affect the Gundam's use of its forearms. When launched, four small wings at the rear of the Dragon Fang help steer the direction of the attack. Additionally, the blocks' flexibility allowed the Dragon Fangs to change their attack direction after launched. During use, the hinged unit flips forward and the blocks extend, enabling the Dragon Fang to strike the target. Each of the Altron's Dragon Fangs is connected to a chain of extendable, flexible blocks which is in turn attached to a hinged unit on the forearm. Unlike Shenlong's singular Dragon Fang, the Altron's pair of Dragon Fangs are not equipped with flamethrowers, but they have far greater range, and can be used as a shield to protect against most firearms. While Shenlong had only one "Dragon Fang," Altron was equipped with two of them (hence the name, taken from the Chinese "ertou long" or "two-headed dragon") and their reach has been dramatically increased. Altron was still a close combat unit, but was given more mid-range weaponry.
